While learning to create unique custom textures for my fantasy images, I also became interested in ornamental art for its own sake, and have started creating several ornamental tile series. I have also written a Photoshop tutorial on some of the techniques used; it can be downloaded through the 'downloads/tutorials' link above. The design for each tile is printed on archival paper, then applied to 6"x6" ceramic tiles with a thick coat of resin. The result is a glossy hard surface with the unique design preserved in bright colors. Each tile is hand poured; slight imperfections and variations from tile to tile are normal. The resin is extremely durable, water and alcohol proof, and heat resistant. Although the paper and ink are archival, it should be kept out of the sun as you would any fine art piece. By arrangement, I will glue a block to the back of your tile(s) which allows you to hang it on the wall. Or they can be displayed as shown in the photos above. Plate hangers also work nicely.
