The Aviator

The Aviator (print size 18"x14"):  How this aviator found herself in the middle of the jungle is bound to be an interesting story.

The inspiration for this piece came from a photo I have hanging on my wall of my mother as a young woman in her leather flight jacket, standing in front of an old Stinson (a small single engine aircraft) sometime in the 1940's.  She was something of an aviation pioneer. The aircraft in this picture dates further back in time.  To model it, I used photos of a Sikorsky S-16; a fighter/scout aircraft that flew in Russia from 1915 to 1924.  I've taken some liberties in the design.  For example the Sikorsky had four wheels, not two, except in the winter when it was put on skis.  The paint job is my own invention.  I apologize ahead of time to you aviation buffs who are going to immediately see all of the imperfections in my re-creation, and want to write and tell me that it will never get off the ground.

The Aviator was created in 3D Studio Max, World Builder, Poser, and Photoshop.
